Tiananmen Square Beijing Visitor Guide
Tiananmen Square is the largest urban public square in the world and the symbolic landmark of Beijing. Located right in front of the Tiananmen Rostrum, it is the starting point of Beijing’s historic central axis and carries profound modern historical significance.
The most popular activity for overseas travelers is watching the solemn national flag-raising ceremony at sunrise every day. Visitors can also walk around to view the Monument to the People’s Heroes, the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, and the front facade of the National Museum of China on the east side.
Important Visiting Rules
- Free entry with ID card real-name security check; large luggage and drones are prohibited.
- Check the daily flag-raising time on the official website in advance, arrive early to occupy a good viewing position.
